In Agrill's article entitled, “Avatar Under Attack from Vatican, U.S. Military, and Liberals”, he shows different negative comments of the movie “Avatar”. One of these came from the Vatican saying that “it cleverly winks at all those pseudo-doctrines that turn ecology into the religion of the millenium.” adding that "nature is no longer a creation to defend, but a divinity to worship." Also, the Liberals too are participating in the backlash, debating wether the film is racist, as the blue skinned natives (many of whom are played by non-white actors) have to be saved from extinction by a heroic white man, the former marine Jake Sully. Another accusation from the U.S. Military was heard that Avatar is taking “sophomoric shots at our military culture”
I have also watched the movie avatar, and I find myself lucky to be able to watch this kind of film. And I didn't even thought that some negative thoughts like that was stated by different people. Well, for the first statement, Christianity is not the only religion in this world, and I think God would understand that.Respectfully, the Vatican must not state something that would affect other people's beliefs. Catholic Churches should be worried of itself and not in a make believe movie. Also, it is also a great help today to have people in this world that worships nature, for it is better defended than not making it a religion. Second, is for the Liberals, they do not show any racism in the movie, it is just the main character is trying to do what must be done, and that is to help. Lastly, is the one that came from the U.S. Military, the movie still shows the characteristics of a marine, though Jake Sully was just a former marine but he is still a warrior that is prepared in every challenge that he encounters.
So, I guess the Vatican, U.S. Military, and Liberals must watch this movie leaving their thoughts out and bring only their hearts to appreciate this kind of art. Because, as a whole, "Avatar" is just a movie that has only one purpose to us watchers, to "Entertain". And according to what I've read that I certainly agree is to "Stop Controlling What Artists Do."
